Interesting facts gleaned

Here are some shipping photos from Tony - I hope some of you remember our original rooster.

These are for shipping leaves.

The white points above show where Tony stapled the bag together to prevent leaf movement.

Now the baggie is surrounded with bubble wrap & stapled in place.

These are photos of a plant shipped to Tony, in styrofoam cups:

How it looked when removed from the box.

Shows the skewer going through the styrofoam cup & inside pot (solo cup). It appears to have a rubber band around the exposed ends -- I supposed to keep the skewer in place.

Cut away view, skewer removed.

Notice Press n' Seal around base of plant to hold the soil in the pot.

These are photos of Tony's method for shipping plants. I received a box full of plants shipped this way and it does work well. There were about 20 plants in my box, laying in all different directions. Not one leaf or bloom was damaged.

Materials needed.

Strips of plastic cut from grocery bags placed over the soil.

Pot with 'skirt' of plastic wrapped around base of plant & taped to pot.

2 ply (layers) of newspapers for wrapping.

user posted image

Make a cone from the newspapers & tape to pot at the base.

Fold down top & tape (Tony was using Priority mail tape).

Place in box lined with house insulation. Cover top with insulation, tape closed. Make sure nothing moves when you shake the box. Ship!
